Ryan Carter - Urban Ghetto

A set of images from a shoot a few weeks ago, the model is a good friend,
Ryan Carter. The original idea for the images was Ryans with the usual Darkslide twist,
he owns the bike in the images and wanted something quite visually striking
to feature it. Inspiration came from a article in Inked Magazine, and the
face makeup was a homage to west coast gang culture in America, with the
clown style similar to that of 'Mr Cartoon' We decided on a location of a
local carpark to a recently closed DIY store, and headed down there at dusk
to capture the sunset and nightfall. We were quite fortunate on the day to
have a rather dramatic sky which really set the scene. Even though the
carpark was disused, within 10 minutes of arrival a security guard pulled up
in a car, but after a friendly chat we were granted full permission to
continue on with the shoot as we were not causing damage nor any
obstructions. As usually, my trust sunpak flash guns and wireless triggers were used, with
a ringflash for front fill. It took a short time to get the balance between
the ambient light of the sun setting and the fill flash but once set up it
was a very straightforward setup, with minor adjustments and position needed
to obtain the right shots. Processing was done in Adobe Lightroom, with a custom preset for the
majority of the images, to give them more of a punch and gritty feel, with a
slight faux HDR look to them, as well as a couple of the images were tweaked
to change the look and overall feel. I am still not sure which style works
best, hence why i have left them all in the set for you to make your own
judgements. Personally, i feel them to be a very strong set of images, and Ryan was very
pleased with the end result as was i. Feedback as always is welcome, both positive and negative, although
constructive feedback is preferred. Enjoy

Andy
